Climate Ambassadors

The Climate Ambassadors scheme is at the forefront of climate education, driving impactful change from the classroom to the community. Join us in this vital mission to create a sustainable future for all.

We are recruiting volunteer climate and sustainability ambassadors with relevant expertise to support their local schools with climate action. Could it be you?

About Climate Ambassadors

Launched nationally in May 2024, Climate Ambassadors led by the University of Reading, aims to support 2,500 educational settings in its first two years of funding. The scheme is supported by a consortium of 15 organisations, including eight universities and the Met Office. These regional hubs facilitate peer-to-peer networks, providing schools with access to expert advice and resources.

With the University of East Anglia (UEA) as the regional coordinating hub for Climate Ambassadors in the East of England, and Newcastle University as the coordinating hub for the North East, the Tyndall Centre will combine scientific expertise and innovative educational strategies to support schools across four domains: climate education and green careers; biodiversity; adaptation and resilience; and decarbonisation.

The Department for Education’s ambition is that every school has a Climate Action Plan and a named Sustainability Lead in place by the end of 2025.
