Two new roles to support climate action in Norwich and region

From classrooms to city commissions, two part-time posts launched by the Tyndall Centre will support locally led climate action across Norwich and the East of England.

The Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research is recruiting for two new roles that will play a key part in steering and supporting climate progress, locally and across the wider region.

Based at the Tyndall Centre’s headquarters, at the University of East Anglia (UEA) in Norwich, the Norwich Climate Commission Coordinator and the Climate Ambassador Officer positions will work with a range of local stakeholders – from teachers and students to civic organisations and community groups – to support practical, place-based responses to climate change action.

Driving climate action in the city and beyond

The Norwich Climate Commission Coordinator will support the work of the independent Norwich Climate Commission, an independent advisory body that guides and tracks the impact of ambitious climate and sustainability actions across the city. The new coordinator will play a central role in administration, delivering events and co-ordinating resources.

Meanwhile, the Climate Ambassador Officer will focus on the East of England’s delivery of the national Climate Ambassador scheme, which links local schools with volunteer climate and sustainability experts. The role will support the development of the regional hub led by Tyndall UEA, and liaise with ambassadors, teachers, educators and children all over the region, as well as with regional hubs across England.

Connecting knowledge and action

While distinct in scope, both roles share a common goal: building the networks and knowledge-sharing needed to translate climate goals into local action. They reflect a growing focus on regionally coordinated, community-informed responses to climate change.

The two positions are also grounded in the Tyndall Centre’s mission to connect climate research with real-world impact, as they aim to strengthen climate action and collaboration across the region.
