Vasudha Chhotray

Professor of Politics and Development

I specialize in the political analysis of environment and development, with a special focus on India. My recent work addresses disaster politics, resource contestations, certifications and citizenship, extractive development, hydropower as green energy, and critiques of green developmentalism. My ongoing research project is studying coal closures and expansions at a historic time when India is considering an energy transition.

I am a part of the Global Environmental Justice research group at the School of Global Development at University of East Anglia.

I have a Ph.D. in Development Studies from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. I obtained my first and second degrees in Political Science at Lady Shri Ram college, University of Delhi.
