I am a PhD researcher at the University of East Anglia, working in the Schools of Psychology and Environmental Sciences.
I am passionate about climate-related issues and understand the key role that effective communication plays in helping society to make informed decisions. As such, I am researching the communication of climate science, with a specific focus on risk communication related to climate change.
Throughout my MSci Geology degree from the University of Birmingham, I gained an appreciation of the magnitude of the climate crisis including the need to engage society with this critical issue. My undergraduate degree also enabled me to advance my data visualisation and geospatial skills, which I will continue to use in my research.
After recognising the importance of science communication, I sought opportunities to deliver science in a way that resonated with non-experts. This included a placement with the Earth Heritage Trust, where I produced educational resources, and an internship with the Science Media Centre, where I worked with a press office team to ensure the public received evidence-based news.
