Caroline King

Senior Research Associate

Caroline is working on the SUCCESS and CLAPS projects funded through the FCDO/IDRC CLARE Programme. She is pulling together a cross-programmatic thread on Evidencing Climate Resilient Development (trying to balance development, adaptation and mitigation priorities). This is a strategic engagement that draws on the global consensus for cooperation on development policy, investment priorities and partnerships, as established so far through the work of the IPCC and the Paris Agreement. It will also be forward-looking in pursuit of shared objectives and evidence in a world facing divisive geopolitical conflicts, social inequalities and economic transformation.

Caroline has over twenty years of experience leading and managing complex research for development projects and programmes, particularly for building resilience in marginal and drought-affected regions. Over the past five years she has served as Independent Expert to the Intergovernmental Working Group on Droughts, led a global Review of Effective Financing to transform drought risks, launched a new Flagship Initiative with GIZ and the United Nations University on the Economics of Nature-based Solutions for Resilience to Droughts and input to the G20/T20 process on accelerating finance for adaptation. She has also served as a Lead Author for the IPBES Nexus Assessment Chapter on Finance.
