Research Interests: Regional resilience, Transformative resilience, Polycrisis, Manufacturing cities

Xiao Hu is a PhD student at the University of Southampton, School of Geography and Environmental Science, funded by the China Scholarship Council (CSC). Her research focuses on the role of structure and agency in the economic resilience of export-oriented manufacturing cities in China. She aims to advance the understanding of uneven development and the transformation of the economic landscape under polycrisis by investigating the factors and mechanisms behind differential resilience, as well as the interplay between resilience and the long-term growth trajectories of regions.
