Xiao Hu is a PhD candidate in Economic Geography. Her research focuses on the role of structure and agency in the economic resilience of export-oriented manufacturing cities in China. The main aim is to understand why some cities are able to respond and recover from shocks quickly and to demonstrate a long-term capacity to bounce forward and restructure their development paths, while others struggle. The research also seeks to provide insights that contribute to stronger local economies, greater fairness, and improved wellbeing for all.
