Matt Newbould is a PhD researcher at the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research after completing a master’s in environmental governance at the University of Manchester in 2025.
He is being supervised by Dr. Claire Hoolohan and Professor Stefan Bouzarovski, who acts as a liaison with SEED, on his project investigating the role of beyond human entities in systems of care, repair and maintenance. Hoping to learn how these interactions can be beneficial to community resilience, he is carrying it out as part of the JUST centre for Joined Up Sustainability Transformations.
He began as a bachelor’s student of Environmental Science at the University of East Anglia, using the culmination of knowledge to create a social research dissertation about public perspectives and valuations of rewilding in East Anglia, supervised by Dr. Rosalind Bark. He has also worked as a facilitator for the NGO Force of Nature, mobilising mindsets for climate action since 2022.
