Janine Morley

Research Fellow

Dr Janine Morley is a Research Fellow at the University of Manchester and a Research Co-Investigator in the Energy Demand Research Centre. Her research interests include governance for sustainable consumption, sufficiency, social change and policy design. In particular, she specialises in the sociology of energy demand, focusing on how patterns of consumption change and what this means for energy policy and environmental governance.

She has previously led research into thermal comfort-related social practices funded by the Centre for Research into Energy Demand Solutions (CREDS). This work took a particular interest in clothing as an important but neglected contributor to thermal energy demand. She has also worked as a Senior Research Associate in the Dynamics of Energy Mobility and Demand (DEMAND) Centre at Lancaster University where she explored the energy implications of expanding information technology use, including growth in data centres and other infrastructure.
