Dr Izzy Sargent is an interdisciplinary researcher working at the intersection of science, society and policy. She has a particular interest in community cohesion and resilience in the context of accelerating social change and climate shocks. Izzy spent the two decades following her PhD working with geospatial and remote sensing data, using machine learning, computer vision and photogrammetry to understand ocean- and landscapes. For many more years, she has been involved in community initiatives and campaigns. She now applies her community understanding and data skills to applied research that supports public decision-making and strengthens community capability during good and hard times.
Izzy holds a BSc in Environmental Science and PhD from University of Southampton, a Masters in Public Administration from the UCL Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose, and is a Chartered Scientist.
