Imogen Edwards

PhD Researcher

Imogen Edwards is a PhD researcher at the University of Southampton, currently specialising in the long-term effectiveness of nature-based solutions in fluvial ecosystems. Her research is conducted as part of the EU-funded “SpongeScapes” project, which aims to improve the resilience of landscapes to climate change. Her work specifically examines the role of river restoration techniques in improving hydrological function at the catchment scale, with a focus on their capacity to absorb, store, and slowly release water. By assessing the longevity and efficacy of these interventions, her research contributes to a broader understanding of how nature-based solutions can mitigate flood and drought risk, support biodiversity, and enhance ecosystem services in the face of a changing climate.
