Emily is currently researching the local implementation and acceptance of global climate change and biodiversity targets. Emily’s PhD project aims to understand the role of ‘other effective conservation measures’ (OECMs) in ensuring compatibility of renewable energy and area-based conservation targets.
After completing a BSc in Zoology at the University of Reading, and an MSc in Biodiversity and Conservation at the University of Southampton, Emily worked as an ecologist and environmental consultant at Mott MacDonald. Emily specialised in Environmental Impact Assessment and biodiversity net gain. Emily has extensive knowledge of national biodiversity policy, particularly biodiversity net gain where she worked as a senior policy advisor at Defra prior to starting her PhD.
