I’m Ayesha Shafiq, and I’ve just started my PhD journey with the Tyndall Centre, supervised by Dr Diarmaid Clery, Dr Andrew Welfle, Dr Naomi Vaughan, and Dr Clair Gough. My research focuses on Climate Change and Sustainability, particularly on how carbon dioxide removal (CDR) can be responsibly and fairly integrated into national and global Net Zero strategies.
Before starting my PhD, I worked for two years as Assistant Manager Sustainability at K-Electric, a power utility company in Pakistan. I then completed my MSc in Renewable Energy and Clean Technology at The University of Manchester (2023-2024). After returning to Pakistan, I joined KPMG as Assistant Manager ESG, where I worked with clients on GHG estimation and helped develop decarbonization pathways. These experiences deepened my interest in pursuing this PhD.
Outside of academics, I love playing basketball and creating social media content. Looking forward to connecting with everyone and learning from your experiences!
