Arianna is a PhD student in Mathematics applied to Physical Oceanography at the University of Southampton, and based at the National Oceanography Centre. Her current work focuses on the Southern Ocean. Her project aims to develop a methodology for detecting rapid changes and tipping points in the abyssal ocean circulation using machine learning techniques and satellite observations. She is funded by the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in the Mathematics for our Future Climate.
She holds a BSc in Physics and an MSc (Hons) in Astronomy and Astrophysics, both from the University of Rome La Sapienza. She also has experience as a climate activist, particularly in the form of scientific outreach and children’s education.
