Angèle Macé

PhD Researcher

My name is Angèle Macé. I am a PhD student at the University of Bath, funded jointly by the Institute of Sustainability and Climate Change (ISCC), and Wessex Water. The biggest challenge I face in my PhD is fostering sustainable and long-term habits among students when they move into campus residences, through a combination of technology and social interactions. I focus on modelling water consumption in student residences, evaluating the impact of moving to university on water and energy habits using surveys, and interacting with students to adopt sustainable practices through some experimentations.

I am fortunate to be supervised by Dr Tom Arnot, Director of the Water Innovation & Research Consortium (WIRC); Professor Lorraine Whitmarsh, Director of the Centre for Climate Change and Social Transformations (CAST); and Peter Phelps, Head of the University of Bath’s Sustainability Team. Together, we form a highly interdisciplinary team ready to produce high-quality research to effect societal change, starting with my immediate community: the campus!
