The successful candidates will be joining the State of Wildfires Project: an international network of fire scientists tackling the big questions about why wildfires happen and how they impact people and nature.

The PhD candidate will be based in the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research, School of Engineering, with co-supervision from the Centre for AI and Decision Sciences, Alliance Manchester Business

Every year, the State of Wildfires report brings together the latest science on extreme fire monitoring, prediction and modelling to track how wildfire impacts are changing and to explain the drivers behind these shifts.

These briefing notes were prepared to accompany each session of the Critical Decade for Climate Action Conference, held in September 2025.
