Dr Ifeanyi Nwachukwu is a Research Fellow in the School of Health Sciences at the University of Southampton and a member of the Tyndall Centre for Climate Research. He is an interdisciplinary researcher and policy professional whose interests include climate risk, sustainable development, and inclusive socio-economic systems. He is committed to understanding and addressing structural inequalities, advancing social justice, and amplifying the voices of marginalised communities through ethical, inclusive research. He is currently a researcher on the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR)-funded project, Prison REsilience Planning And Response to Environmental Extremes for Health (PREPARE for Health), which focuses on prison health and climate change. His work examines the effects of environmental risks on vulnerable populations and assesses the capacity of the institutions responsible for their care. More broadly, his research explores the intersections of climate change, health equity, and health-system resilience, aiming to generate policy-relevant evidence to inform adaptation and resilience planning. With a background spanning research, policy, and governance, he works to strengthen data-driven decision-making to support sustainable development. He prioritises collaboration with academic, community, and policy stakeholders to ensure his work has a meaningful impact and to foster knowledge exchange.
