Velma Mukoro is a PhD researcher at the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change at the University of Manchester. Her research focuses on life cycle assessments of solar energy business models in developing countries and business model innovation strategies. Velma is collaborating with solar energy companies in Kenya to quantify environmental impacts of incumbent business models and identify opportunities for innovating value proposition, demand side, supply side, and financial aspects to mitigate the impacts. Velma has a background in renewable energy and environmental science. She has professional experience in off-grid renewable energy in the Global South, working in areas such as policy and strategy, monitoring and evaluation, supporting pilot projects, capacity building, feasibility studies, impact assessments, and knowledge management.
