Tiffany Lam

PhD Researcher

Tiffany is a PhD researcher at the University of East Anglia, based in the Science, Society and Sustainability (3S) Research Group. Her research explores how intersectionality can be operationalised in cycling policies and projects to make cycling more equitable and inclusive. She has over a decade of experience working with governments and organisations in the UK, US, Europe and Latin America on increasing equity, diversity and inclusion in city cycling. Through her PhD by publication, she is critically reflecting on her experiences translating research on cycling equity into policy and practice. She is particularly interested in understanding and addressing the barriers to operationalising intersectionality in a neoliberal context.

Tiffany works at Sustrans as the Strategy Lead — Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, where she leads the development and implementation of the organisation’s approach to equity, diversity and inclusion. Prior to working at Sustrans, she worked at the Quality of Life Foundation and the New Economics Foundation, where she led research and consulting around sustainability, economic inclusion, health and wellbeing. Tiffany holds a Masters degree in City Design & Social Science from the London School of Economics and a Bachelors degree in Women’s Studies and Peace & Justice Studies from Tufts University.
