PhD Topic:
Adjusting Rainfall Records to Compensate for Undercatch
Supervisors:
Prof Hayley Fowler, Dr. Elizabeth Lewis
Ruth is currently a PhD researcher based in Newcastle at the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in the Geospatial Systems, a collaborative partnership between Newcastle University and the University of Nottingham. Her research focuses on investigating the inaccuracies of rainfall data, specifically as a result of undercatch, and hence exploring correction methodologies and their implications.
Prior to starting her PhD Ruth completed the Geospatial Data Science (FT) MRes, as part of the CDT, and the Hydrology and Water Management MSc, both at Newcastle University. Before this she worked as a Transport and Land Development Engineer in New Zealand, and obtained a Master of Engineering in Transportation from the University of Canterbury (New Zealand). Her undergraduate degree is in Civil Engineering, which she studied at the University of Glasgow.
