Philip is a Senior Research Associate within the School of Environmental Sciences at the University of East Anglia. His background is in the mathematical modelling of stochastic processes, and he has worked on the development and application of such models across a variety of fields.
He completed his PhD in 2017, looking at numerical modelling and simulation of the shallow water equations coupled with precipitation systems for improved prediction of flood inundation. He subsequently worked as an Early Career Researcher at the University of L’Aquila in Italy, and later as part of the CoSiMa project at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden, working on the visual design of material structures. This project was awarded the Chalmers Impact Award in 2020.
