Muir is a PhD researcher with the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research. His research focuses on the high-resolution mapping of agricultural residues and industrial wastes to be used in modelling bioenergy with carbon capture and storage (BECCS) supply chains across the UK. Muir has created a BECCS supply chain GIS model which allows for analysis of specific biomass BECCS supply chains for the UK down to the 2-meter scale.
Muir holds a BSc in Geology and an MSc in Carbon Management.
