Dr. Jo Swaffield is a Research Associate at the Centre for Climate Change and Social Transformations, based at Cardiff University. She is working on a collaborative project with Anglian Water, trialling interventions to reduce household water use. Jo’s previous research has focused on behaviour change in large corporations (PhD, Newcastle University, 2008-2012), the reduction of food waste at the household and organisational level (Sustainable Consumption Institute, University of Manchester, 2013-2016) and the (justifiable) limitations of individual behaviour change at home (Newcastle University, 2016-2021).
Alongside her work on behavioural interventions and water use, Jo is currently writing up several collaborative papers on the mental burden of climate protecting behaviour change (e.g., information overload, competing conceptions of individual responsibility). She is also very interested in climate adaptation, anxiety and resilience.
