Aayushi Awasthy

PhD Student

Aayushi is a PhD student in the School of Economics at the University of East Anglia. Her thesis is on the impact of modern energy on labour force participation, education, and such development indicators in rural areas. Aayushi has seven years of work experience in the field energy modelling and climate change. Before starting her PhD, Aayushi worked with a Indian energy based think tank, TERI. She worked closely with the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change and was part of the energy modelling group that informed India’s climate pledge (INDC). She has also participated in modelling work for some of the other policies and programmes such as India’s Cooling Action plan and national communication and bi-annual update reports. She has collaborated with different international think tanks on energy and climate change mitigation, especially working towards building scientific consensus for climate change action. Aayushi was also awarded the Clean Energy Education and Empowerment (C3E) fellowship 2019-2020, which is a competitive fellowship from the International Energy Agency, she worked in their World Energy Outlook Team and contributed to India Energy Outlook.
