A consortium of Tyndall Centre and UK Energy Research Centre partners, led by Jim Hall of the Tyndall Centre at Newcastle University, has been awarded £4.5million by EPSRC for a five year programme on infrastructure transitions.
The research will develop new UK-scale quantified models of capacity and demand in national infrastructure (energy, transport, water, waste and ICT) and use these to explore strategies for decarbonisation and infrastructure adaptation.
The research programme is also supported by UK Government Departments Defra, DECC, DfT, DCLG, Cabinet Office, and the Environment Agency and Infrastructure UK, as well as a large group of industrial partners. It is one of EPSRC's major contributions to the Living With Environmental Change programme.
